No HDMI expert by any means, but I'd say no.Does anyone know for sure that a broken cable pin or port damage would cause lip syncing?
Thanks…hope that is the case. We will see.No HDMI expert by any means, but I'd say no.
Thanks…that’s what I’d figured but I’m no HDMI expert. I figured I’d see a degradation of the video before I started getting some lip sync issues. Guess I’ll chalk it up to settings or the title, though it’s not lip syncing via other playback devices outside my home theater. Could be the soundbar or some setting that’s causing some lag.Nope if you get a signal the cable is doing it's job there's no limited signal scenario that I have ever seen
Lip sync would be purely software based I'd have to guess. My amp has a setting for it but I've never needed to use it because I've just never noticed it even if it is thereThanks…that’s what I’d figured but I’m no HDMI expert. It’s a projector. If I run the Firestick directly to the projector, I wouldn’t get anything other than the PJ’s speakers for sound. Going via the soundbar seems the best route but I will need a switcher to add the PS4 as well, since the soundbar only has one input.Plug the Firestick directly to the TV.
Yeah, I’m not sure. There’s only been one title so far on Amazon Prime that seems to have lip sync for me…and it’s not by a ton. It’s a little off though. If 99% of the titles don’t have lip sync, that’s good enough for me. I’ve only had my PJ and soundbar for a week, so all this is new to me.Lip sync would be purely software based I'd have to guess. Doesn't hurt to test though. If there's still a problem with sync, that eliminates the SB.It’s a projector. If I run the Firestick directly to the projector, I wouldn’t get anything other than the PJ’s speakers for sound.
True. The HDMI cable seems to have survived my rough handling…not sure how much I set it back. Think I’ll have to get a switcher for my two sources into the soundbar so I don’t put any more pressure/wear on it or the port. I really used a lot of force on it and the port, foolishly. Just totally had forgotten about the extender.Doesn't hurt to test though. If there's still a problem with sync, that eliminates the SB.![]()
Thanks...I think I put the soundbar in "standby" mode when I unplugged/inserted HDMI cables, but should have unplugged the power completely first, as this soundbar doesn't have a true "on/off" switch. It just is either "on" or in "standby" mode.Just keep in mind that HDMI ports are fragile in the sense that you don't want to keep unplugging/plugging your cables. The recommendation is to totally power off your system if you are going to unplug/replug the HDMI cable.
Lip sync issues are usually between the source/sink and not necessarily the cable.
All you can do is try with the switcher. For HD (1080) you probably won't have any issues. Once you get to the higher video standards (4k, 4k HDR, HDMI 2.1 etc) you may encounter issues. Also, if you use active cables that will cause issues because active cables require a power source, which is usually the HDMI port.Thanks...I think I put the soundbar in "standby" mode when I unplugged/inserted HDMI cables, but should have unplugged the power completely first, as this soundbar doesn't have a true "on/off" switch. If I do swap out the soundbar, I'm definitely going to get a switcher for it first, since it only has 1 HDMI input. Since the projector is 1080p, not 4K, I assume any switcher will do? Maybe a 4K capable one would be a good 'future proof' idea.
Thanks. Yeah, my HDMI cables are passive. I didn’t experience lip sync last night but I’m getting vastly varying audio and volume levels with the same content on different days, so I’m going to return the soundbar today. The picture quality suddenly vastly improved on my streaming content as well last night, out of the blue, and the audio was noticeably louder and fuller on almost every app. As far as I can tell from feedback on Avsforum, volume and audio quality should not buffer like video does, so I think there’s an issue with this soundbar. Sometimes a show is soft in volume and the next time, it’s louder. Returning the Fire Stick too. The varying levels happened on my PS4 apps too though, so it’s most likely the soundbar. All you can do is try with the switcher. For HD (1080) you probably won't have any issues.
