I wrote a post a couple days ago about the sync problems I am having when I pass the output of my RCA VHDC-300 RGB to component converter through my Belkin VGA switch. The picture will be fine for a while, then periodically I loose horizontal sync for part of the image while other parts look fine.

My friend Mark Fontana spent some time helping me try to figure out what was going on. He noticed that I loose sync when there is something very bright on the screen. He theorized that my switch has some amount of gain and ends up making anything over a certain brightness threshold look like a sync signal.

Does it make sense that the Belkin switch could be introducing gain and causing this problem? It is there 4-way switch intended for switching computer monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

I don't have this problem when I pass RGB through the switch or when I pass the component output from my iScan through the switch. I don't have the problem when I connect the output from the VHDC-300 directly to my projector.

I'm trying to figure out which I should be replacing, the VHDC-300 transcoder or the Belkin switch. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Here is a picture of what the picture looks like when I loose sync.

Thanks!

Thanks. It looks like those are coax switches. I'm using a VGA switch to switch between the output of my iScan line doubler and RGB to component transcoder.
