Hello Guys and Gals,

I apologize up front for the newb questions! I am a member of several other car and lawn forums and I know how much trouble us newbs can get into if we don't use the search function
I am in a bit of a time crunch and need some quick answers from some experienced people.

My current set up is: 52" Sharp LCD, Sony Bravia Home Theater, and DirecTV HR-20.

I just purchased a LG BD390 as I wanted to upgrade to blu-ray and I realize that I will need to replace my Sony Home Theater and am now looking for a receiver. I am trying to stay in the $500 range and so far the pioneer vsx-1019ah-k seems to be the best option based upon my limited research. I am open to other options as well! Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Basically, I want to be able to use the Blu-Ray to it's full capacity along with my DirecTV HR-20 to it's full capacity. Although it is probably an audio sin, I am going to reuse my speakers that came with my Sony HT (DAV HDX-501) in the mean time, is this acceptable to get me by until I have the resources and time to search for speakers?

Thanks again for the assistance.

In my mind, you won't benefit from lossless if you are using some sort of speakers that came with a Home Theater in a Box system. I did not want you thinking you are going to experience a big improvement in sound. In my view, the biggest improvement in Blu-ray over DVD is that they provide a BETTER Dolby Digital. The step up from 380 kbs, or whatever is standard on DVD to 640 kps might make an audible difference - and you get that for "free" so to speak as long as you can decode Dolby Digital.

A new receiver's main benefit to you might be in providing more power, ease of HDMI switching and room correction ( assuming your current unit did not provide any sort of room correction.)
