Here is the official word from Cox (a little different from what I said before). No word on if Discovery HD and ESPN HD can be bundled for x dollars. Probably will not know that until a couple of days before the 15th.

Effective May 15th, ESPN HD will become part of our High Definition channel lineup.

Cost: $5.99 a la carte

24 hour programming

Will be delivered in 720P progressive scan format


ESPN launched their high definition (HD) service on March 30, 2003 and Northern Virginia will be one of the first markets to offer this exciting new service. ESPN HD will include 100 live telecasts in its first year featuring Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, the National Football League, and the National Hockey League -- produced and distributed in high-definition HDTV.


Telecasts in 2003 and 2004 include:


· Select games from MLB, NBA, NFL & NHL

· A variety of ESPN Original Entertainment proprietary programming including the X Games, the world’s premier action sports event, Great Outdoor Games programming and ESPY Awards


· Live college championship events including the Women’s Final Four and the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament

· In addition to the programming mentioned above, most studio shows, including SportsCenter, will be added in 2004 providing an additional 3,700 hours or original produced HDTV programming.

There are no plans for a ESPN/Discovery bundle like in San Diego at the moment.


Hope that will change.
