Just wanted to let everyone in the Phoenix area know that Cox has released the SA3270HD for sale/installation. Price is the same as the old box (3100HD/3170HD), $499 pus $49 installation. Box has all the features promised, including 2 firewire and 1 DVI connection (though those appear to be disabled at the moment). I'll be getting mine installed next Thursday (my next day off), so I should have more info to share soon after that.

Well, the time has finally arrived. I got my SA3270HD from Cox today ($500) and I see now what I have been missing. But, it's not too late to catch up on the PBS loop and the Discovery bug stuff, before the new fall season begins in earnest.

Everyone is pretty much right, you'll watch a bunch of things at first just because they are in HD. I think I'll concentrate on PBS until Survivor comes on, then watch CSI, before checking out Discovery, etc. I already see what everyone is talking about when non-HD commercials come on, etc., but so far none of that bothers me at all. I still have to rework some cabling for time-shifting and audio, but right now I'm pretty pleased and want the SA8000HD even more.

If anyone has a question about the 3270, I'll do what I can to check it out in the next few days. BTW. It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be at about 12 wide x 9 deep x 3 high (even though someone gave me the dimensions a while back). Even the color doesn't bother me as my DVD player is the same. Also, the zoom/stretch modes for SD channels on the component connection work great and, near as I can tell, as well as the 4:3 Expanded on my Hitachi. Have not tried DVI yet and probably won't until I get more time and buy a cable.
