Is there any advantage in a faster CPU and fater ram when it comes to DVD playback at 1600X1200 or 1024x768. I want to build an HTPC for my NEC XG1100 and I only want to scale DVD.... Using an ATI RADEON 9000proWould there be an appreciable difference in playback quality between a Duron1200 with PC133 ram and an Athlon2000+ with PC2100 DDR ram?

Bump! Any input would really help!

This would be a dedicated box, doing nothing but feeding my projector with DVD playback.

thanks

The only time you're going to see a real need for gobs of speed/power is if you're doing any kind of scaling of other inputs from outside sources INTO the computer - time shifting programs, s-video input, etc. Or, of course, playing PC games.

Otherwise it's not going to matter much. A good video card is the base!
