Help. My four year old tv had a run in with my five year old throwing a remote at screen while playing angry birds. Star shaped crack on inside of glass and black line running across screen. Still have picture.

I have a feeling tv is toast but would appreciate any options(besides leaving my kid in the desert).

Pioneer 5020FD

Thanks

Simple math, 5 years > 4 years. Be proud. The thing you made beat the thing you bought.

In other words, it's broken.

Lucky you.Justification for a new set but in order to beat Pioneer pq you will have to go with an OLED

Any recommendations?

The closest TV to your 5020FD that you can currently buy is the Panasonic VT50 series (only available in 55" or 65"), with the next in line being the GT50 and ST50 series.

I hate seeing so many posts here about kids (and adults) throwing gaming remotes at the screen and destroying expensive TVs, especially a Kuro.

Thanks for the advice. I was leaning toward the VT series but after contemplating price(and the fact that I have two more boys 3yr old and 18 month old) decided to go with the TC-50PU54 at Costco for 649.99. Definitely a few notches below the Kuro, colors not as rich but nice bang for my buck.

Anybody have any recommended settings for this TV?

Thanks

There is a U50 Calibration thread in the Plasma forum - and the U54 is the Costco version of the U50 (they're the same TV).
