I'm thinking of getting one to connect my X-Fi card to my HTPC. What does it do? It converts the multichannel outputs of the X-Fi (and other cards) to a DTS stream, so only an optical cable runs to the receiver.


My Yamaha receiver does no additional processing whatsover to multichannel inputs, but using DTS, I could take advantage of the various DSP modes available.

mmmm might as well get a x-meridien to replace the x-fi, simpler solution of using one card rather then what you intend to do.

I would consider something like that if it weren't for EAX games.
