Anyone know the status of the remake? I'm not digging up a discussion of the merits of a remake but am just curious as to what happened to it.

The Creature From the Black Lagoon is now in pre-production. Due to the writer's strike in 2007, the movie is now slated to be released in 2011. It was originally reported to be budgeted for $90 million; however, that budget is sure to change with everything pushed back. They are currently looking for a director (Breck Eisner is out) with Gary Ross of Larger Than Life Productions (and Tedi Safarian assisting) as the screenwriter.

The original had a non-speaking role for Clint Eastwood...perhaps his first ever. Maybe they could get him to have another cameo for old-times sake.
