Hi all:

New to the forum, so please be gentle.

I have a faint line that creeps up the screen whenever using the Svideo input on my TV. Starts at the bottom, and slowly works its way up to the top, then restarts at the bottom. The whole cycle takes about 60 seconds or less.

It's a Panasonic 32" standard tube television, about 3 years old.

I don't notice it when watching standard TV over cable (using the internal tuner).

When using DVD, it is one line. When using the S-Video out on my PC it is two lines evenly spaced.

Here's where I need your help. I'm theorizing that it might be interference creeping into the cables. The DVD to Receiver and Receiver to TV cables are "okay" quality I think (Acoustic Research cables). The PC cable is 15 feet of bargain-bin SVideo cable so I'm definately going to replace that anyways.

Questions:

Think this is my cable? Or might it be an issue with the TV or Yamaha receiver?

Is Acoustic Research cable any good, or should I spring for something slightly more rich (Monster cable?)

Thanks,

Pete

It sounds like you are picking up 60 cycle noise.

This is evidenced by a white band that rolls from bottom to top of display.

Try moving your cables around and away from your power cables.

Also, try unplugging your coax from the cable box when you are watching DVD as it might be induced from your CATV provider.
