TV: Panasonic 50" Plasma TH-50PZ85U

Blu-Ray: Panasonic DB-35

Reciever: Harmon/Kardon AVR 254

Center Speaker: Infinity Primus PC250

Front Speakers: Infinity Primus P252

Rear Speakers: Infinity Primus P152

I'll have an Xbox 360, DTV, and the Blu-Ray connected to the reciever through the HDMI, and then a HDMI cable to the TV. For the reciever and speakers, I only paid $600 for them all, so I am wondering if its a good combo together to use.

Sorry but your system sucks

Seriously, what kind of post is this? You already bought everything so I suppose you listened to all the pieces and you like them else you would not have purchased them, right? If it looks and sounds good to you what do you care about what anybody else thinks? Personally I'd replace those Primus speakers, but that's just me. Speakers are very subjective and all sound different specifically so we can listen to them and purchase what sounds good to us. Which is what you did. Enjoy and stop looking for validation.

I only listened to a few, but listening in a store and in my place is going to be two different things. I always have the option to return them, which is why I was looking for information before I used them. So no matter what I listened to in the store, it WILL be different once I get them home and hook them up to my equipment.

I am new at this, a college student, with a limited budget. I am just wondering with what I purchased for the price, if that was a good buy or not. Since I am new to all this, I am unsure of all the technical things associated with speakers/recievers.BD, so that’s why I am looking here for some information. I purchased the items on deep discounted sales, so that’s why I purchased now, and ask later kind of post that I made.

I was thinking the exact same thing but I couldn't think of a nice way to say it at the time, so I did not reply. Anytime I'm new to a hobby, I lack the confidence to stand by my purchases. I don't have the experience to make an informed decision, or how to weed out what is good advice and what is pure marketing BS. If I were to buy some mountain bike tires today which i know nothing about, I'll have to rely on others' opinions and/or brochures. But by the time I buy my 5th set, then I'll know what to look for and what parameters of the performance are important to me. The OP just wants to know he wasn't buying junk.

Thats pretty much what I am looking for. If these are crap to start off with, then I will return them and go with something else. Give me a car, computer, or airplane and I can do wonders with them. But give me the task of designing a home entertainment system, and I am in the lost. I can wire it up though, which is a good thing. lol

Fair enough. There are a lot of variables in what you are asking. Your receiver only puts out 50 watts per channel. Now, by most standards, that might not be enough power. But this depends on the size room, the volume you listen at, whether you have a sub or not, whether that sub is powered or not, and how easy your speakers are to drive. If you are in a small room and don't listen to your source at very loud volume and have a powered sub. Not a problem. But if you are trying to fill a large room with sound, do not have a powered sub so therefore set your front speakers to large and listen to source material at or near reference level...you might want to have looked into a receiver with a little bit more power. Your receiver does decode the newest codecs and support 1080p so going HDMI from the player to the receiver and HDMI out to the display will net you a pretty good picture and sound. The Blu-Ray player is fine. Now speakers are very subjective. I don't like Infinity Primus speakers. I find the mid-range muddy and not dynamic enough when used for pure music, for me. But that's just my opinion. I'd look for something more high end on the used market to get the most bang for my buck. Go to the speaker section and take a look around. You will get a lot of information on various speakers in several price ranges. Then shop used at Audiogon or Ebay. But again, if you are happy with the sound, if your system works for you, enjoy and don't look back.

Thanks much. I do have a powered sub, which I believe is a 10" or 12", forward firing. It does have some good deep bass to it. Could you also explain a little bit about the mid-range being muddy, and the dynamics of speakers a little for me in stupid language? lol. The system is going into a 13'3" x 12' 5" apartment room also.
