Hello all,

I was given a pair of Bozak DMS-2500. They are two way speakers with a 8" driver (B-800Bc).

The person who gave me the speakers told me that they are functionnal (they are indeed) but that the crossover has been tampered with. I wish to repair the crossover to make an audio kit for my son.

I want to know how I would determine the crossover frequency needed for the speakers to maike them sound good.

I included a pic of the actual parts installed in the speakers. I know there is a missing inductor in there but apart from that, I'm not too sure where to begin.

Any help is appreciated,

Marc.

First of all you would need to know the effective range of the woofer and tweeter. Most likely it would be somewhere between 1200Hz and 1400Hz.

Don't take my word for it, but it looks like a first order butterworth with a resistor to compensate for different sensitivities between the drivers.

You should probably just post this on htguide, that's where all the crossover designers are.

Hello,

I'm not too technical nor knowledgeable about Bozak tweeters, but I don't think this one is a 200Y tweeter (see pictures). I heard about a 4000 hz crossover point on another forum. What do you think?

thanks

I think that is the tweeter that NEAR (New England Audio Research) designed when they bought the Bozak company but operated under the Bozak name for a few years. I'm not sure of it's range. The 200 series tweeters Bozak produced were used for years and depending on the 2 or 3 way crossovers the highest was in a high level 6db/octave crossover used in the Tempo speakers (3 way) and the crossover points were 1200Hz and 3600 Hz. If you used a 1st order crossover 6db rolloff with 800 and 2500 Hz points you should be good. The B800 was used a fullrange (by itself), a midrange or woofer. It will boil down to what your hearing likes.
