Hi everyone, I apologize if this question has been asked before -- I wasn't able to find any useful search results.

Does it matter where the crossover is placed within the speaker cabinet? I'm building a set of Fusion 12 Tempest speakers, and the easiest place to fit the crossover is on the back of the cabinet, right in the center. This places them more-or-less right behind the 12" Eminence speaker. The other option is on the side next to the speaker, and possibly on the very bottom of the cabinet below the speaker (but this would take some reworking of the crossover layout and I'd like to do it only if critically necessary).

From the bit I'v been able to find, it doesn't seem to matter that much (but maybe I'm wrong?). Beyond possibly interfering with the drivers, does the fact that the crossover location prevents that area from being insulated matter at all?

Thanks!

It doesn't matter, just don't block the ports.
