Hello guys, sorry to bother you, but I have the following problem:
When I moved into my new home more than two years ago, I had my NEC XG 1352LC set up by a pro. He used no point convergence at all, because he said it would be bad for the projector and would cause degradation to the picture over the time (constant re-tweaking necessary).
He set up two modes for me (I use a Vigatec VC1280 Scaler):
1440x720 @ 90 Hz for NTSC
1440x864 @ 75 Hz for PAL
After more than two years and 1600 hours of viewing the picture is still stunning! No convergence drift at all.
Now, in the next days, I will get a D-Theater deck (thanks to your advice!), and I will need a new mode, 1080i @ 60 Hz, and I don´t want the pro to "Fly in" just for dialing in one single mode into an already perfectly calibrated projector.
So I tried it myself - I´am not a total tech-dummy after all ;-) First, I set up my PC for 1080i @ 60Hz. Then I started by copying the data of the current modes. I used some STATIC to reconverge, repositioned and resized the image, did some keystone and amplitude to Red and Blue.
The result is so-so, but the picture is still a bit "wavy", upper right corner looks, funny - I am not too happy. With point convergence, I get the picture 99.9% right, but I worry about reliability and convergence drift. I would prefer not to use point convergence, like the pro did.
Is there any manual online how to do a perfect mode-setup? I do not mean focus or Scheimpflug, as all the mechanical adjustments are alreay near perfect; just the things you can dial in with the remote...
Many thanks,
Philip
