Hypothetically speaking if the earths magnetic field were to shift or reverse polarity would our beloved CRT sets even function properly anymore?

I ask this question because I have heard that CRTs made for the southern hemisphere differ from those made for the northern hemisphere.

According to www.repairfaq.org/sam/crtfaq.htm page "The magnetic field for South America is about 0 to -100 mG while the U.S. runs 400 to 500 mG (milli Gauss). For a CRT to set up correctly the gun is offset 1 to 1.5 mm left of center for the 500mG field and 1 mm to the right for 0 mG this way the purity will be centered and the yoke tilt will be centered making setup easy during production. A North American CRT can be set up in South America but there is a chance that it will not set up well with excessive purity correction and or wedging set to the extremes."

Anyone ever take a northern or southern hemisphere set to the opposite hemisphere to see what the effects would be?

Comments, experience, and/or speculation on the subject are welcome.

Landing and convergence would need to be adjusted. With the adjustments provided by a high quality set it shouldn't be a problem.
