I have about narrowed my decision on which scaler is best for my needs and budget. I have read about and understand the 67ms delay created by the Lumagen Vision/Pro machines. My question is whether such a delay is inherent in the scaler world. I assume all devices that handle the 2:3 look ahead introduce such a delay. True?

If that is true of all scalers, then a receiver upgrade is also in order. Please don't throw me into that briar patch!

Thanks!

Most of the delay is incurred during de-interlacing.

Those scalers that accept and process video that is already progressive scan (480p) will produce a much smaller delay after scaling that input.

http://www.focusinfo.com/products/ce...TPV_eprint.pdf showed decent professional review. Since CS-HD can accept 480p, get you a Panny XP-30, XP-50, RP-82, CP-72 (or even RP-62, CP-67) with DCDi (Faroudja) 480p output and your delay should be much less noticeable. Seems to me this is ideal to have DCDi for deinterlacing and CS-HD for its decent scaling and flexible outputs (DVI output (CS-1 has DVI input and output) is supported though not HDCP compliant--only CS-2 is)
