I beleive, as of today, the price for the SCD-C555ES muti channel sacd player is $775.00 plus shipping at Oade Bros. (an authorized Sony ES dealer... Not too shabby huh? I'm going to call them tommorrow and order one myself.

If this is true . . . I'm mightily peeved.

I paid $1050 three weeks ago, from Sound Sellers. I thought it was a good deal, until now. I'm still not convinced though, as the MSRP on this item is, I believe, $1700. I was not aware that Sony worked with margins like that.

How does this unit differ from the 222ES?
Oh, true it is! I bought a SCD-C555ES muti channel SACD player 45 minutes ago from Oade Bros. for $775.00 plus $25.00 for shipping. Great deal... (i got the last one)

Congratulations! I've found the folks at Oade Bros. great to deal with. In fact, I picked up one of the new XA777ES Multichannel SACD players from them for $2,000 - $1,000 off the list price!

As for the C555ES, I suspect Oade can pick up more if people are interested. They're pretty good about helping customers.
On October 1, Sony dropped the price on that unit by $500. It went from a list price of $1700 to $1200.

I was one of the less fortunate. I'd purchased one for $1050 (which I thought was a good deal) just 10 days before.

Do they make any SACD players with a volume control? My lexicon DC-1 does not have an analog pass thru. I'm not going to buy a pre-amp and a player.
