Boys and Girls,

A few days ago while browsing the forum I came across the following thread:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/765190/blu-ray-custom-cover-art-huge-files/5760

This thread covers very talented forum members who take the pain to create their own cover art for their Bly Ray discs.

Being a big fan of Grand Prix and so of the movie 'Rush' the cover created by Morpheo (see above thread) piqued my interest.

I have always been interested in getting custom posters created for my backlit poster boxes in the lobby of my theater.

I wrote to Morpheo that I would love to get the cover art of Rush created by him converted into a poster size file - and he agreed to do this for no charge.

Next I requested Morpheo if he could personalize the poster for me and he graciously accepted.

I got this poster/art printed on Duratran and it is awesome - a personalized poster created by Morpheo who in my opinion is a awesome artist - I bow to him....

See attached poster jpg...

I told Morpheo he could start a business of creating custom posters for AVS members and I am sure they will pay - I encourage you guys to try him - he is unbelievable.

No Morpheo is working on a new project for me .... I will unveil the details as they happen.

Awesome hobby and awesome people...

Great poster to go along with a great movie... Looking forward to seeing more of these custom movie posters. I am always in the market for posters for our light boxes. Maybe Ash will post of a photo of his new Rush poster in his lobby...

Ash,

I love it! Is the data at the bottom of the poster the portion that you had customized? What file size was required to end up with a detailed looking poster?

Very cool!

Kevin.

The artwork of this poster is custom itself - one of a kind.

And Morpheo added my theaters name and home address to customize it further.

I have requested Morpheo to chime in.

This is awesome stuff.

Hi everyone...

The idea behind this artwork was first to create something original for the Blu-ray cover. I found the retail artwork rather dull to be honest, and being in Canada, people are plagued with these bilingual covers up here, which I passionately hate!
...So I wanted to design something that reflected both the spirit of the movie and, to me, the most prominent character, NIki Lauda... After seeing various Blu-ray screenshots submitted on AVS, came this idea... I didn't use any of the official posters and designed it from scratch instead. The title treatement was recreated as well, based this time on the german posters iirc. This was easily one of my favorite films last year and was great fun to do it. I'm a movie fan and doing custom artwork, whether it's for a blu-ray cover or a poster, is also my way to simply "celebrate movies" so to speak. When Ash asked me to convert the cover to a full-size poster (for instance 27x40) and further personalize it for his own theater, I didn't have to think twice...

Seems like a nice side business, if it weren't for Copyright infringement laws.

Believe me I have read *a lot* about this subject...And it could take hours to go through it in detail. The bottom line is that "fan art" is pretty harmless to the studios, who have much more important issues to deal with than a custom poster. A few points to consider from the "legal" perspective: for example the poster above doesn't use any of the official artwork, doesn't transform it, doesn't alter the movie's plot or story elements, doesn't mock or make fun the movie, is made in total respect of the source material, etc.. It's more problematic for a fan to use an existing official poster on say, a Blu-ray cover and claim it's "his" creation.

Nice work!!!

These are one of a kind. The images are from the movie or other promotional materials, but the whole composition of the art work is very unique.

I'm sure there would be interest for these.

Once again -- Nice work!!!

fwiw, the images were first taken from the movie, as the promotional shots mostly focused on Chris Hemsworth's character. However the film is at least as much about Lauda, if not more, as it is about Hunt. And I liked this idea of seeing just the eyes behind the helmet. ...Then I changed the background elements to get an homogeneous look and take out the specifics of the scenes they were from, if that makes sense
I was also aiming for the the same color tones as the movie's.
