I have D* and will soon upgrade to HD for my HT. I understand D* provides local station HD programming in "selected cities". I live in SE Virginia. Is there anyone who knows when (or how I might find out when) D* will start providing locals in HD in my area. My dilema is, should I get an antenna and a HD D* and OTA STB or wait for D* to start local HD broadcasting here. I've talked to D* CSRs and they're non-commital.

Someone is confused. All DirecTV-capable HD STBs are also able to receive OTA HDTV via an appropriate antenna. DirecTV does NOT provide any local HDTV channels anywhere now, nor are they expected to in the near term. Their current "strategy" is for satellite customers to use OTA antennas to receive local HDTV channels OTA.

I suggest you visit the Local Reception thread here on AVSForum and search for posts that cover your location. If you do not find anything on a search, ask your question in the Local Reception Area and be sure that the title of your post indicates where you live.

Good luck!
