Has anyone been able to stream directly from a replay to the D-Link DSM-320?

D-Link DSM-320

I know there was mention of this unit earlier, but I have yet to see a definitive answer on its compatibility with replay.

According to the specs, "The DSM-320 adheres to the Universal Plug-&-Play AV specification, and complies with Intel Networked Media Product Requirements (INMPR), allowing it to communicate with other UPnP AV media devices seamlessly."

I know DVarchive uses UPnP packets in some capacity to communicate with the replay, and I assume there would be no problem streaming archived shows from a DVarchive computer to the DSM-320 A direct streaming thin client seems to be the one piece of equipment I have yet to find commercially available(without modding an Xbox).

Could this be an answer to the long awaited and anticipated replay thin client?

No. UPnP is a very, very small piece of the puzzle required to support streaming from a ReplayTV (or DVA for that matter). The device/its software has to support the proprietary ReplayTV HTTPFS protocol for streaming directly from a ReplayTV to work. Streaming from DVA would be a bit easier but still requires specific support. I sincerely doubt the DSM-320 has it; however, if it supports plugins/extensions, perhaps someone will add such support. As it is, the Xbox is still the best option IMO.

There are other solutions aside from a modded XBox.

Hauppage MediaMVP running MVPMC:

$80 (no rebates required) at Radio Shack clearance

Out of the box it will play Replay files stored using DVArchive.

With software mods like MVPMC, it will find the replaytv's directly and play the files you have recorded.

No, you don't need linux or a MCE certification to perform the software switch.

I have several now and saved myself quite a bit of money and trouble by not installing a video distribution system.

Very small form factor!

Roku Soundbridge HD-1000

$299 - $399 depending if you want the HD screen savers.

My first choice but unavailable when I had dough burning holes in my pockets. Can stream HD from your PC.

Has memory card slots for viewing your photos.

Requires third party apps just like the Media MVP to stream directly from a Replay unit.

About the size of a home DVD player.

I was really surprised at the efforts of talented replaytv uses out there that have created the wonderful solutions! Mega thanks to them!
