D-VHS, Firewire, and Windows XP (SP2)

Is there anything special I need to do to be able to read and write to my JVC HM-DH5U deck? I was using the meidvhs drivers under service pack 1, but have had no luck with them since I re-installed Windows and loaded Service Pack 2.

Anyone? Please....

I've tried a few things and am puzzled. Even though I get an unknown device error (the yellow question mark in the Windows hardware manager), the HM-DH5 appears in programs like CAPDVHS, VCL Media Player, and DVHSTool. I am able to play HD tapes if I use the VCL Media Player, but cannot write consistently to tape. Another sign that all is not well is that the FusionHDTV application will not play a file if I've got the HM-DH5 connected.

I would very much like to know if I need Windows to install drivers for my DVHS deck. If I do need them, how do I point Windows to the correct location to load them. This was all working before I installed SP2.

Thank you.
Aparently SP2 broke firewire by reducing the speed from 400 Mb/s to 100 Mb/s. There is a patch available for SP2 which fixes this for some (most?) people. Check out the HDTV recording forum for more information.
