I'm thinking about switching to a tube amplifier, but don't want to lose the ability to play my Blurays in my PS3 through my speakers (as opposed to just through the TV). I'm assuming I'm going to need a DAC that accepts HDMI inputs? Any recommendations?

Or is there some kind of newfangled tube amp with an onboard DAC that accepts HDMI? I'm looking for stereo only, not necessarily multichannel. My budget is probably around $1500.

Any thoughts?

Doesn't the PS3 have any analog outs?

Also, I believe that Octava and Gefen make such devices.

But you wouldn't be able to output TrueHD to the S/PDIF...

True but he is restricted to PCM and stereo, anyway.

Does anyone have an opinion on this:

The Nova looks to be a very interesting product. If you check in the 2 Channel Audio forum here there is a thread discussing the Nova. With a few posts from David Solomon of Signalpath that makes the Nova.
