What would be the best of $100 or less dance pads? The Madcatz Pro or the Red Octane? Or is there something else?

no clue on dance pads, but i've never bought a mad catz product that i like, red octane on the other hand makes pretty good stuff.

Will dance pads made for the Xbox work with the 360?

doubt it, different controller plug, BUT the original xbox used usb (just a different connector) so if you have an adapter cable, it could work.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think can only use accessories with a special chip in them or the 360 will ignore them.

Well it turned out BB had the DDR Bundle for $79 plus they gave me a $10 gift card. That brought the price to $69.99. Then I ordered the Pro Dance Pad from Amazon for $69.99.

Controllers have to a specially licensed chip from Microsoft in order to work.
