It appears so. Also, appears NOT to be the superior extended/director's cut version. Even w/MPEG4, I can't see how the even 3-hour theaterical cut can look as good as it should on a single BD25. If it's the 4-hour version on a BD25, forget it. We'll know for sure when it's out, but doesn't sound good to me.

MGM has screwed the pooch on just about every release so far. Among other things, I don't understand the fear they have of including previously-produced extras on $40 BDs.

Not ideal but I'm sure Fox will do everything they can to make the disc look good.

And the double-dip with the director's cut is inevitable.

KK on HD DVD is VC1 and 30GB and said to be one of the best looking titles and that is a 3hr 8 min movie. it had a few extras on it too. OTOH, it did lack lossless audio, was not the extended cut, didn't have nearly as extensive extras as the ult SD DVD edition, and 30GB is an extra 5GB.

yeah, i don't get it. this BD25 stuff is really dumb or devious (recall the 12,137 SD DVD editions for T2, for one, or King Kong or LOTR, etc.). one or the other. and both suck.

Considering that this was a great film and that it also garnered numerous Academy Awards; I was hoping that this release would get a 50GB disc. This is very disappointing news if true.

At least we aren't getting any special features on our $40 disc.

Can't wait for a $40 Casino Royale with no special features!

Or is $40 the bargain catalog release price? Maybe the shiny new Bond will be $50 with no special features.

I was disappointed to hear this, as well as a little shocked. Thats alot of info even for MPEG4 plus the DTS HD Lossless audio track. I guess they know what they are doing but one can just wonder about compression issues on this one.
