I'm trying to determine if what I am seeing is normal, or if there is something in my setup that is causing it...

Setup is:

Toshiba SD3690 ->

inexpensive component cable ->

Onkyo SR601 ->

Component-VGA adaptor (that came with projector) ->

SVGA 50' cable (from http://www.national-tech.com ) ->

Dell MP220 ->

off-white wall (no screen)

I used Mask of Zorro Superbit when I noticed this:

All over the projection, the pixels are dancing all over. When the video is paused, in the black bars above and below the video there are lighter colored pixels dancing around. Is this just part of how the DLPs work or could it be caused by something in my setup?

The light snow in the black areas could also be "luminance noise"

I couldn't find anything on luminance noise. I suppose what I'm seeing is simply the dithering, but I thought it might have been somekind of noise introduced through the rather inexpensive cabling. Thanks for the replies.
