As Goi already mentioned powerdvd suffers from the chroma bug, also referred to as the blocky reds problem, i think this is one of the reasons if not the reason windvd has better image quality(no chroma bug). for an explanation on what the chroma bug is read this article

Hopefully cyberlink will fix this soon, but it has been a known issue since before 2.5 and nothing has been done about it so far.

What is the username and password for the link to the patch mentioned above? Every time I try to download the patch it pops up a box asking for my username and password.
