Would be good customer service.

Might do wonders for the pre-order business, too; pre-order and get it D/L'ed automatically the day of the release. (Or 24 hours early.)

Or get a bundle: buy on LIVE, download, and get the DVD in the mail later.

this update is just a preview for certain media members. it is however a confirmed list of changes coming in the near future.

one of my highlights, is the option to pay directly with credit/debit card. instead of having to buy ms points first then buying/renting a game/movie and having left over points.

Games on Demand

Enjoy 24 x 7 access to a growing online library of popular full game titles on Xbox LIVE whenever you want them, in the comfort of your living room.
  • Purchase Options – Browse and download a great selection of full Xbox 360 games using Microsoft Points, direct debit, or credit card.
  • Game Manuals – Game manuals for Games on Demand titles can be viewed, downloaded or printed on Xbox.com.
  • It's Yours Forever! – As with other Xbox LIVE content, Games on Demand titles are linked to your Xbox LIVE account, so you can delete and re-download anything you have already purchased to the same console or another console.

I missed that...that is a great feature. Kindof negates points (I always hated having to do conversions to figure out how much something costs)

Can't wait for Netflix queue management through the dashboard, will make an already excellent service even better.

Avatar marketplace
Just horrible, but I'm sure it will rake in the money. All that **** should be unlocks for actually playing the game.

There are some neat stuff there, but I don't know if I would pay $3 or $5 for Halo prop...

As much as gamer pics; 40-80MSP...

(Any mass effect or Fallout stuff?)

It would depend on if they make Avatar stuff useful (like in a game or something).

Just to play dress up? I wouldn't buy anything. I would rather have to earn the Halo prop by doing something in Halo....similar to an achievement (I realize this is also coming). Seeing someone whose avatar is dressed in a golden Chief costume knowing he beat the game on the hardest setting is more impressive than seeing him and knowing he spent $5 for it.

Oh and August 11th?!?!? That's not that far away. I am most excited about the Netflix smooth streaming. Don't care about the party aspect of it at all, but may try it out.

Yes, smooth streaming is a much needed evolution of the service.

The party thing sounds like Mystery Science Theater to me. Didn't they say you could see your avatars or silouettes or something? That might be fun to put on "Streets of Fire" and make snarky comments throughout. (Even though I like that film.)

Oxm has pics of the Netflix party thing and it does have a frame around with avatars at the bottom. There is also a similar mode for Sky in the Uk...

MST360, baby!
This might be a good use of the burping functionality that the avatars have.

I can't think of anything more annoying than watching a movie that takes up a fraction of my screen and having the rest of it filled up with Avatars and listening to "snarky" comments from people who think they are funnier than they are and keep trying to outdo each other in their snarkiness.

Ok, going to the theater is more annoying. I guess when I spent all this money on HT equipment to enjoy movies, not once did I think "wouldn't it be great if the screen had crap all over it besides the movie and then I had a bunch of people talk through the movie?"

But that's me.

BTW, wasn't this supposed to be released to some media outlets yesterday (Monday)? Anyone see any previews/videos of any of this Netflix stuff? Smooth streaming, queue management, etc?

Just surprised we haven't seen anything yet...
