Anyway...It is a good question that deserves an answer. It is simple really, I wanted to get the most out of the wall space I had to work with. With this ratio, I am able to have 2.35:1 movies with less black bars at top and bottom, while only cropping very little on the top and bottom on an actual 1.85 movie, which really is a non-issue. (Meaning you don't crop enough of a 1.85:1 even to notice.)
I also wish to thank Stewart for helping me archive this. They were able to make me this screen without any issues. They even went as far as to figure out that I needed 1.6 gain to get 8 foot lampeers (?) with my current hardware and distance setup. So they custom spayed a 1.6 gain for my environment. Alan came over today and almost fell over!
I have seen the light!!! And it is Stewart!
