Kongsberg Gruppen, the owners of Norwegian projectormanufacturer Davis, have decided to shut down the Davis operations. Norwegian brokerhouse Sundal Collier were engaged earlier this year to find buyers for Davis, but have been unsuccessful. Davis` activities will now be limited to selling the remaining stock, and service existing products, reports Norwegian paper Aftenposten Friday.

Too bad.....

Regarding the Cinema Ten Pro: It will most probably never happen- The machine depicted in an earlier link on this forum is apparently one of only a few prototypes existing, and wasn`t meant to be set into regular production until later this year.

BAD NEWS. Hmmmmmmm.......Let's purchase Davis as a group (everyone in the forum chip in 1000 dollars) and build our own ultimate digital projector.

After seeing this happen to two companies whose products I own. I am trying to stick with more secure companies like Sony for example. The world would have to end before Sony would go out of business.

This is a shame. However, I doubt that it was their lack of new "shipping" products in the home theater space that did them in. My guess is that they lost the biz presentation war to Plus, Sony, Sharp, Infocus, etc. etc. Sure there were several Davis knockoffs, but I think that there are a heck of a lot more Plus knockoffs in the BP space than Davis.

As for their upcoming unit....don't bet on ever seeing them. Depending on how close the product was to shipping and how good they are, maybe Davis will attempt to sell the design outright to help offset any losses? Just a thought. RIP Davis.

Sad,

But I bet this is just the tip of the iceberg.Too many sellers without advantage chasing fewer buyers.

The uhp bulbs are the same bulbs being used by Selico

and Runco and Dwin. They are readily available and you can get them through bulb wholesalers.

If this is true it is definetly a sad day!

"Kongsberg Gruppen has decided to terminate its efforts to

sell DAVIS, meaning further investments in new products

and markets will be abandoned. The company will gradually

be downsized and the focus will be narrowed to the sale of

existing products, and service and maintenance on products

already delivered.

Predata, DAVIS`s sales company in Norway, which also sells

brands other than DAVIS, will stay in operation. This also

applies to DAVIS` distribution companies in Sweden and

Denmark, both of which are profitable companies.

Kongsberg Gruppen will make Q2 provisions of MNOK 100-125

to cover winding up costs. This will reduce liquid assets

by MNOK 30-50."
