I have an older Onkyo TX-SV525 Prologic reciver. I purchased a 12" Dayton Subwoofer to use with it. The Onkyo receiver only has a mono output for the sub. Per the instructions I hooked it to the right red input on the sub.
I am barely getting anything to come out of the sub. I have the crossover set at 70Hz.
Is this just the limitations of the prologic receiver combined with a lower end Subwoofer? should I connect it differently?
I am running Athena B2.2 fronts with a C1.2 center. The base from the Athena's is great.
I have to turn it up at least 3/4 of the way to get much of anything. I am just concerned that I will hurt the subwoofer the gain is all the way up. When the receiver powers up it gives a pretty good pop.
Turning up the gain on the sub won't hurt, but if you have the big turn-on pop I would power on the receiver first and then turn on the subwoofer. Not convenient, but then again newer receivers don't have that problem.
