Hi,

I'm new to this whole subwoofer thing. I just bought a decent pair of speakers for my computer, audioengine 2 and am looking to get a sub. My room is only 20 feet by 15 feet so I figured I'd settle for a Dayton SUB-80. I'll be using it for music 80% of the time , 20% for gaming. I have a simple question about the high pass filter, I mean doesn't 275Hz look a bit high? Won't it mean that if I connected my active speakers to the subwoofer, the speakers won't play anything below 275Hz? The response of the subwoofer is 40-180Hz, won't there be a gap between 180Hz - 275Hz ? From what I understand, it's best to connect the speakers to the subwoofer because the high pass filter will eliminate the speakers playing lower frequencies. I'm a bit confused here, any help would be appreciated.
