I've got a basement room with a concrete floor. It is 20’ x 17’ with a 6.5’ ceiling. I need a sub primarily for TV and movies. I play the occasional video game, and I rarely listen to music on this setup. I like bass that is moderately loud, but I'm not looking to shake the entire house. I have a $600 budget. I already own a Denon AVR-1712 with Audyssey XT.
So far, I’m thinking about either buying a Dayton Titanic III 12” DIY 500w sub kit ( http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-762 ) or a Hsu VTF-2 MK4 ( http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-2-mk4.html ).
A friend of mine said you get the most bang for the buck with the Dayton DIY kits and that their speakers are really good, but I don't see many people mentioning them on here, so it makes me wonder. I've seen the VTF-2 recommended as a good bang for the buck, so I don't know which one I'm better off with.
