I had the DCT 6208 (comcast)for a couple of weeks, got it for the DVR feature. I do NOT have a HDD set yet, just a 32" SONY that does a good job of letter-boxing wide screen. When I tune to a HD channel, and hit replay, for example, that locks the box into recording that channel. I can't change channels, or stop the recording. Turning off the box doesn't help (it comes right back on the same channel and continues to record) Only if I unplug it for 30 minutes or so does that work. (My DCT 6208 firmware is 7.07). Comcast has changed out the box already, and still problem occurs (I have learned not to record or replay the HD channels, just watch themn!). My question, even through I don't have an HDD set, should I be able to view the HD channels or not? Would the 7.10 firmware addresss such an issue? (I realize that only Comcast can push that)

Thanks. JohnF

Do you see graphics / menus when on HD channels? Usually if there is a recording in progress and you try to change channels, TVGuide will pop up a dialog warning that this will cancel the recording. You then have the option of continuing or not.

If you are not seeing graphics when on HD channels, go into the user settings (by powering the settop off and pressing "menu") and change the YPbPr output to 480i. This should bring graphics back for the SD outputs while on HD channels (and you can only view 480i anyway since you don't have an HDTV).

Batf, I did not see the graphics or menus when on the HD channels. I changed my user settings, the YPbPr output from 1081i (the default box setup) to 480i as you suggested and that solved all my problems. The menus is there on the HD channels and the DVR no longer locks up the box! Thank you for your advice, you where right on the money!
