Sorry i know this is kinda console related but you guys have the toslink expertise.

I have always used the the coax digital cables and this is my forst toslink experience.

I have an xbox with the HD pack that allows you to connect the optical signal to your processor (in my case a sony ep9es) to get dolby digital.

Now what is weird is that it says it locks in on a signal(5.1) but NOTHING comes out of the center channel. What should come out of the center seems to come from the left and right fronts.

Now I unplugged the toslink and connected it to my dvd player and all is fine but not with the x box.

Could a crappy toslink cable cause this?

Has anybody heard of this type of thing?

Also the LFE indicator is on all the time. It never goes off.

HELP!

mconroy,

There is nothing wrong with your toslink cable. It is the game itself and how it was mixed by the designer. If you listen for awhile you will notice a few things coming out of your center speaker. Depends on the game. It does seem strange that they would not have used the center channel some more. Also, there is a bunch of bass being pushed out on these games.
