Soon I will be adding rear speakers to complete either a 5.1 or 6.1 setup. My receiver is able to decode 6.1 sound, but I was wondering if it is worth it to add that rear center channel speaker?


My couch is right in front of a window and it would be very difficult to place this rear center speaker and have it look good. Also, what additional audio performance does a rear channel speaker bring? Thanks for your help.

Most here will tell you that a single rear speaker is not recommeded. If you go with rears, then a 7.1 setup is recommended and this might help with your window problem.


There's been lots of discussion on the forums about the benefits of rears and so poke around or search.
