I have my HiPix machine dialed-in nicely, but I'm out of PCI slots, and would like to add a sound card so I can play DVDs. That's not why I built the box, so it wasn't really part of the design.

So, I need to add either an ISA or USB sound output device. Does anyone know of one that will support DD passthrough?

Otherwise, I'll just throw in an ISA sound card and use the "real" DVD player for DVDs.

I've yet to see anyone actually use an ISA card here...

I supposed you could get something like one of the monstrous SB AWE64s to work, but it might be an adventure. As far as USB goes, there is only one device that will do it. It is made by Abit, isn't available in the US and only works with WinDVD.

Are you talking about the ABIT UA-10 Dolby 5.1 External with Remote ?

If so I can source them here in New Zealand and will gladly ship to those who desperately require for one.
