The only DD5.1 CBS does, is the football and special programming such as the grammys. $22k is a lot to spend for one show per week.
We are facing other issues that we must deal with now like closed captioning for the HD signal. Since CBS does not put closed captioning on the HD feed, we have to purchase the gear to trans-code it from the analog feed. More money we weren't planning on spending for HD this year.
I know this doesn't sound like much, but how much can a business spend on a service with no money coming in to support that service?
The FCC keeps hitting businesses with expenses. One such expense is the reallocation of our microwave spectrum for 2Gigahertz. The re-channelization plan is going to cost the local stations in markets 30 plus thousands. While markets above 30 will get their cost defrayed by the company occupying the vacated spectrum.
