If I make the screen wall dead with insulsheild, the bottom half of the room dead too, do I extend the insulsheild to be the same height behind me? The rear seating balcony is 14" higher. Or should I raise the rear "dead zone" by 14" to be above ear height for the rear seats?

Also should I make the whole first few feet of the room dead top to bottom since my speakers will be slightly above ear level?

Most of the theaters that I've seen do a stairstep design with the insulshield for the second course seating...So, IMO, you would raise the insulshield the 14".

I think you should have the sound Insulshield start at above the speaker height and go down to the floor only where the sound could be reflected to the listener's seat.

Assuming sound is reflected at about the same angle it strikes the wall, look for where the sound from the speakers would hit the wall and reflect back to the listener's seats. You might fit a scale drawing helpful in find the locations. Then cover those areas with Insulshield from above the speakers height down to the floor.

Before finishing the walls with cloth or other final layer, do sound tests to see if the echoes are a problem. You can always add more Insulshield if needed while the walls are unfinished.
