I feed 2 channel stereo sound from my computer to a receiver then to a sima stereo speaker selecter with volume control then to 6 pairs of speakers of various types and sizes hard wired to different rooms of my house. Have been using a harman/kardon hk495i stereo receiver with 45 watts per channel for 20 years and has worked great. Seems the harman/kardon has finally died. Figured I don't need a receiver just an amp and was looking at amps on amazon and am overwhelmed by the choices. How many watts per channel should I get? How much should I spend? How do I know if the sound quality will be good and have ample bass? The harmon/kardon had a "loudness" button that seemed to increase the bass for great sound. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for your input.
