I'm putting a Maggie 7.1 system together and the front speakers were the last missing items. A women on the phone said she wanted $1750 for 3.6  speakers. I said I'll take it. After driving 3 hours the next day, she said she had made a mistake by offering such a low price on 3 year old Maggies but she promised them to me. I paid her $1800. My problem now is that I was aiming my custom modified Stratos amp for 1.7's. On that same trip, I got a Bryston 5Bst 3 channel X 120wpc ($800). Can I just connect the Stratos to the upper frequencies and two channels of the 5Bst to the low's. Or should I get an active crossover? Are there any recommended pre amps that have active crossovers and HT bypass that would work well with my amps? I'm using a Oppo 105 as my direct pre amp. I've glanced at many suggestions for modifing the 3.6's and right now my head is spinning. Don suggested that I try to find 3.6's so I got that much right.
