Two weeks ago I purchased a 50" Panasonic plasma from a local dealer, whom promised me the best price in the area. I received notice from another board member that a better price could in fact be had in the area then what I paid. I contacted the dealer about the competitors pricing and he indicated that in fact he could even do better the the competitors price. He must not have remembered that he had already sold me a display at a substantially higher price, then he was quoting me now. I'd be interested in what members thoughts are on the matter and how best to proceed.

Make an anonymous call to the place where you bought the plasma and confirm what their post-purchase price-matching policy is. If they have one, and you're still within that period, get the exact facts on the competitor's pricing (written documentation always helps) and go back in there and get your credit for the difference.

I got all my stuff from GG on Jan 17, and I have 60 days to price-match. I set up a weekly reminder every Sunday for the next 60 days to check the Sunday papers for their ads and/or just go on in there (5 minutes away) and visually see for myself.
