As I have a throw distance of about 3 metres, the Optoma H30 is only going to give me an image of about 78 inches, whereas a LCD projector will go to around 100 inches+.

Any comments on smaller better picture, as opposed to a larger inferior one?!?

Have you seen the H30 in action? If your not effected by rainbows I'm sure you'll be pleased.

Can you sit behind your projector mount or is that the end of the room? If it is the end than using the 1.5 multiple for 'optimal' viewing distance your right in the ballpark. Going larger would only increase screen door effect.

Also LCDs don't have as much color saturation or as deep blacks.
Actually, LCD's have BETTER color, but the blacks aren't as deep. I'm sure the H30 will blow your socks off. If Infocus would smarten up and come out with a 4x wheel, WXGA, Faroudja equipped projector for under $1800, they'd be pwning the market.

OK, it's WVGA not WXGA, but I think the SP4805 will be tough competition for the likes of the H30.
