Hi,

I have two questions:

1. Will there be any difference in the audio quality if the decoding is done on the Blue Ray player and uncompressed PCM is sent over HDMI to the receiver or if the decoding is done in the receiver itself? In other words, if I have a BD player that can do the decoding, should I still spend the extra $$$ to get a receiver that has on board decoding of Dolby True HD?

2. If my Blue Ray player decodes and sends the audio as uncomppressed PCM over HDMI, and if my receiver has only 1.3 HDMI switching & 1.1 repeating and NOT 1.3 repeating, can my receiver still use the 7.1 uncompressed PCM for the speakers and still send the 1.3 video with deep color to the television?

Thanks in advance!!

1. In general, PCM and bitstream should be identical. A receiver could process them differently, for example there were claims of differences in bass management. I would not spend extra money for player side decoding if your receiver will decode DTS-HD MA.

2. Never heard of a receiver with that setup - if the receiver says nothing about decoding TrueHD or DTS-HD MA, you can be sure it does NOT decode it. If it does say it decodes them, there's no reason to think it won't work. As for Deep Color, there are no sources of Deep Color.
