Heres the deal, In the near future i am going to be building a new house that has a dedicated room for a theater and i would like to get some advice and suggestions from everyone because i know alot of your have been here and done this and keep up on new products

The budget that has been set is about 20k for the entire room, which includes audio, video, and furniture. So far i am pretty sure i know what i want to get for the audio portion, which would be the NAD T773 reciever with the possibility of adding the C270, or 272 power amp for the front left and right to take some strain off the reciever and to have some more oomph for stereo only listening. For speakers i am about 95% decided on the Axiom Epic 80 7.1 system. With either the Axiom EP-350 sub or something from HSU or SVS. So far i already own the NAD c370 and a pair of the Axiom M80's in my stereo setup so i am quite confident that it would sound good and be more than powerfull enough for anything i would ever need.

The part where i need help is in video and subwoofer selection. And while im pretty much sure i want the T773 i am not sure if i would need to buy the extra power amp for the M80 fronts or if the NAD reciever is up to the task. Becuase running 4 ohm fronts and 6 ohm surrounds and center can be quite a load for any reciever. Thats an awfull lot of power for one box! lol.

For video i want a front projector and a screen but i am not sure what size screen will be best for my room, and seating distances. I would like to get a fairly good sized one though. For projector and screen i figure that i have about 9k to spend in this department. But if i dont have to spend all of it to get a nice setup i dont want to. I have looked at a few projectors but i have no experience here so i have no idea what to look for and which brands are better so some suggestions on what most people have and reccomend would be great. I believe that I want a widescreen setup, is this what everyone is putting in now days? What brand of screens would everyone reccomend?

DVD player is something i figure on around $500 or so for because once you get past that much money i dont think it would get that much better quality, or would it? I havent seen alot of people on here talking about NAD dvd players, so again, reccomendations? SACD playback would be a real plus here also.

Attached is a picture of my proposed setup. How am i looking for speaker placement? im mainly concerned about where the rear speakers should be placed as those are going to be mounted on the wall and i wont be able to mess around with them once they are installed unlike the front speakers. And where would be a good place for the sub? anywhere?

The areas with red lines i figure would be raised up to accomodate a stage and stadium seating. I still need to work on seating though because i want to be able to listen to music in stereo and be in the sweet spot which in this setup i wouldnt be.

And the biggie. what size screen and how far back to sit? if i use the 1.5 ratio and i have a 6' screen i would have to be about 9' back from the screen correct?

Whew, this is kinda long and i know im forgetting something. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Heres some more stuff i forgot

I want to be able to watch cable tv through the system so because the projectors dont have tv tuners would i be forced to buy a VCR or something that has a built in TV tuner?

Power protection. Do most people go with just a good surge protector or something like a full on power conditioner for their setups?

And i forgot to mention before but the entire room will be carpet flooring with the possibilty of havin carpet on the walls also, halfway up or so anyway. And there will be no windows in the room so light control will not be a problem.

If your cable company offers HD via cable then you could just use the cable box they offer and you would kill two birds with one stone (analog and HD broadcasts). You could still rent a cable box from them for use with the analog signals if you opt for an OTA HD rcvr, since I am sure if you are going to spend 9K on a screen and PJ you will be wanting some HD program options!

As for the SUB I have a HSU VTF-3R which is just a beautiful piece of furniture. Rosewood may not be your thing but it is so much nicer to look at than straight black. This thing also rocks in the HT enviroment. I am happy with it in when used for music, but I find it truely amazing with DD and DTS soundtracks.

Though I have a PJ, your budget puts it out of my area of research, but for that money you should be able to find something that will just blow your mind away, as I am very pleased with my 1700 dollar sanyo and 1200 dollar panny.

Good luck!

Jamie
