Definitive gurus - have a question on where to purchase?

Guys - my specific question is - where (if anywhere) on earth might I still be able to find BP-30's? I'm obviously going to keep my eye on audiogon and ebay, but perhaps some dealer out there still has some of these new?

They've been out of production for quite a while, I'd be suprised if you found them at a dealer. I think Ebay will be your best bet, I've seen a number of pairs there recently.
Why that specific Definitive speaker? Definitive make awesome new speakers to choose from? Give us some info on what you want your setup to be and we can suggest things from DT. J.H.
Actually I just looked and the BP10 is a better speaker with a newer design and better parts. I was surprised to find out that they only cost $499 each and that to me is cheap. I would like to try two for my surrpuind speakers just to see if there a difference between the BP10's and the BPVX's I have now. That would be a cool experiment. J.H.

I'm pretty sure that what I want is the BP-30's with a CLR2000. I'm simply not interested in the powered towers but would like the extra midrange driver that the 30 use to offer over the 10 (or 10B).
The BP10's are not powered. I would go to your local DT dealer and check out the BP10's. Thats just my opinion because i don't know where or if you will find BP30's.
I personally use BP-30s with a CLR-2000 center and BPX surrounds. I ended up boxing the CLR-2000 (for now) as I need a slimmer center channel. So, I put in a Sonance Silverscreen 50 - big mistake. So, now I'm saving for the Mythos Eight to put in there.

About the only place to look is where you are already looking and then keep your fingers crossed. They do pop up every now and then and pricing is typically fair, but they do tend to get some solid bids.
as the others said your only hope is ebay. They do show up once in awhile (once a month or so i have noticed) and they usually go for 800-900 a pair after shipping.
If you are looking for the same kind of puch a s the BP30's the Mthos Ones are equivically powerful. The BP30s ate up a huge amount of power ans such people didn't care much cause they needed huge amps (200-250w RMS) for em. The newer drivers have better comb filters, impedence is flatter and they are more efficient. The BP10b's are also great too.

I have the firepower, B&K REF 200.7 - but I'm pretty surprised that you feel the Mythos and their tiny drivers can compete with the BP's - I'll have to give them a listen.
Hey Matti hows the 200.7 Ref? I just bought the Ref50 S2 processor and its AMAZING! Now I am looking for amp down the line and would like to match the Ref50 with a B&K amp. Hows that baby sound? How much power does it have and does in clip at all? Thanks for the help J.H.

Don't have it yet, picking it up this week but I'll let you know. I also just cut a deal today for M&K 150THX speakers, so the Definitives are out for now. Can't wait to get everything up and running.
Well definitely let me know how the B&K amp sound i would really appreciate that. What processor are you using? J.H.

I thought you had a Parasound system, don't you like it?

~Bob
Well I sold the Parasound processor for a B&K processor its much more musical. I wanted something that was as musical as HT. J.H.
