Hard to imagine you could go wrong with either of these packgages. In my experience, Boston's seem very "realistic" with a slightly laid back feeling to them. Definitives have great bass response, at least the models I've listened to.

You're best bet, of course, is to go and listen to 'em for your youself. Good luck.

Can't help much on distinguishing between the two specific systems, but I can tell you I've been very satisfied with my BA/Velodyne system:

VR-35 mains

VR-14 center

VRS Pro L/R and C surrounds

Velodyne FSR-15 sub

Now, all these BA's are the THX-certified models that they came out with 4-5 years ago. Excellent soundstage, excellent tonal matching all around, and decent performance for music. Just a personal preference here, but the BA's had a touch more detailed sound (which I like) than the Def Tech BP2000's a friend had. The DT's were a bit warmer than the BA's and didn't have quite the bass control that the Velodyne does. We were never able to do a direct A/B comparison so take this with a grain of salt, and as always YMMV.

Have you demo'd the two systems? If not, as Gai Pan suggested, try to do so before you purchase - it's the best way to make your decision. Best of luck.

Directional speakes provide more consistent sound. However, I find the Boston tweeter to be excessively bright and intense. but the mids/bass are decent. I'd do more shopping outside of chain stores. I'd have some recommendations, but I might get attacked as biased :)

I love my Deftech speakers(BP8B's and BP2X's and prosub. That being said have you considered an SVS over the supercube. IMO MUCH more bass for the money. The supercube is pretty, but IMO the an SVS, DEFTECH combo would be even more killer.

Ditto on this.

Front: BP-10B

Rear: BP-6B

Sub: SVS 16-46PC+
