Definitive Technology Supercube Ii Wow!

1923 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Scott Tucker
I've had the Def Tech supercube II for two weeks now. Its hooked up to a Denon 3803 receiver with a Y-cable into low level inputs on the sub. I've been playing around and testing this thing out for two weeks and all I can say is WOW! This thing really kicks out some deep, deep bass. I mean it really shakes the whole room and house for that matter. Its an incredible piece of technology. I just watched U-571 in DTS and I mean it just rocked the whole movie. I seriously can't believe how great this sub is. I can't imagine the Supercube I or reference. It must be insane the deep bass in those. This sub is fine for me. Just wanted to report on the performance of the SCII. J.H.

If you don't mind my asking, why are you using the low level inputs? Why not the LFE (crossover bypass) input?
Congrats on your new woof J.H.
I also bought this sub recently, I agree with J.H. The bass that comes from this cube is simply amazing.
The low level inputs is better. I use the sub out of the receiver to the sub with a Y-Splitter and its way more responsive. From what i understand when you hook it up through the LFE its a mono connection. When you use the Y-splitter to low level inputs its stereo. Thats the way I understood it anyway. I've tried it both ways and its much better through the low level input. J.H.
I have had the Supercube Reference since September. You are right, these are incredible. I have it in a 24' X 24' room and have no need to adjust the sensitivity knob past the 12:00 position. I fear this thing could actually cause physical damage to components in the room. When I played U-571 it vibrated a makeup mirror across the countertop in the bathroom which is behind the wall where the sub is located.

BTW: I use the LFE input.

Thanks for the post. I am considering the II as well. The II is more in my price range and physical size, but theres always the question "should I go for the I".

JCPZero
I say go for it. This thing really kicks some deep bass and its small. I can't believe how much sounds comes out of such a small package. Its really a beautiful thing. I have it half way up and it rocks the entire house. I'm going back up to my HT dealer just to hear what the Reference sub puts out because I can't imagine it. Any questions on the II just ask. J.H.
I have 2 Supercube Reference Subs built into the towers. Set the volume to about 1:00 o'clock. I just run speaker wire to the mains, and set my receiver speaker setting to large. Lots of bass. I too have been very happy with the Def Tech's.

I now have it hooked up through the LFE with coax and set the mains to small. The overall sound is more dynamic now with much better highs and mids. Just a quick edit FYI.
