I'm having a new HD rptv delivered next week to replace my non-HD rptv. When my old rptv was delivered, the crew that set it up said I shouldn't turn it on for (IIRC) 30 minutes. Thus, I didn't have the opportunity to look for picture flaws before they left. Did they pull a fast one? Is that normal? Should I expect the same this time around?

This is true when the outside temperature is below freezing, as condensation can build within the unit as it comes from the cold into your warm living room. A half hour gives it a chance to warm up and evaporate any moisture.


I'm not sure what the point would be if it was warm out though...

That makes some sense. In fact, I think "acclimation" is exactly what the delivery folks said about the first set. However, I don't think the temperature difference was that great. Oh well, I did get an in-home service plan; if I find any problems with the new set, they'll be hearing from me.
