As much as I tried to talk myself out of it, I ended up buying a preconfigured Dell for my HTPC today. Having built the last few PCs ive owned, this was a pretty big deal for me. It seemed too good to pass up.

I was able to get a 3.06 ghz p4 with 256mb of pc1066 memory, 4x dvd burner, and radeon 9700 TX video card for $1537 after $100 rebate. I could have got the same configuration but with 128mb of 333mhz DDR memory for around $1200, but I figured this rig would smoke it with the rambus memory. Check out techbargains.com for the latest dell coupon codes and if you are a prior dell customer, check your emails for a 15% off coupon (thats what made it such a sweet deal for me).

The key selling points here are obviously the 3.06 ghz processor which sells for $700 by itself and the DVD burner. I preordered the M-Audio Revo and plan on using that for my sound. Hopefully I wont have any hardware issues. Wish me luck!
