Dell Dimension 2300

310 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ctn
HI All,

I was going to get a Dell Dimension 2300 which has intergrated audio and video on the motherboard. Does anybody know whether these can be disabled. I want to replace them with an AGP G4 Ti4200 and a SB 5.1 card. Any hint would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ctn, You need to check the specs or ask Dell if the mobo has an AGP slot, if so you should be able to disable the audio and/or video in the bios. I recently picked up a Dell for home use, very pleased with the quality and performance of their products. Good luck!
Get the Dimension 4550 instead. You can configure one with a 2.4ghz p4, ti4200, sb5.1 all for only$270 more then the dimension 2300.
I believe that the 2300 is based on the 845GL chipset and does not have a AGP slot.
ctn,

I would recommend the 4550 also. It's a different board(533 FSB) and a larger case. I bought one for my son a few weeks ago and was very impressed with it. It was very quiet.

Keep an eye on www.techbargains.com

Any day now I'm expecting Dell to put these machines on sale.
